Safeguarding & Policies

Safeguarding & Policies

The safety, welfare and dignity of every young person are central to the work of Supreme Mentoring Services. Our safeguarding responsibilities inform how we recruit, prepare, supervise and support the people who represent Supreme, as well as how concerns are identified, recorded and appropriately reported.

Our Safeguarding Commitment

Supreme Mentoring Services recognises its responsibility to provide safe, professional and appropriately governed support for children and young people.

Safeguarding is not treated as a separate administrative requirement. It is embedded within recruitment, induction, mentoring delivery, professional boundaries, information sharing, session recording, supervision and communication with relevant professionals.

Where Supreme Mentoring Services works within an education or community setting, our mentors operate alongside the setting's safeguarding procedures while continuing to uphold Supremes' own professional and reporting responsibilities.

How Safeguarding Is Embedded in Our Work

Safer Recruitment

Appropriate recruitment, identity, reference, suitability and compliance checks are completed before an individual is approved to represent Supreme.

Enhanced DBS Checks

Relevant team members are required to hold an appropriate enhanced DBS check for the work they undertake.

Safeguarding Training

Mentors receive safeguarding training appropriate to their role and are expected to understand how to recognise, record and report concerns.

Professional Boundaries

Clear expectations govern communication, conduct, confidentiality, physical contact and relationships with young people.

Recording and Reporting

Safeguarding information must be recorded accurately and shared promptly through the appropriate reporting process.

Supervision and Oversight

Safeguarding practice is supported through leadership oversight, communication, reflection and appropriate professional supervision.

Working with DSLs

When working in education settings, Supreme mentors communicate appropriately with the setting's Designated Safeguarding Lead or nominated safeguarding professional.

Continuous Review

Policies, procedures and professional expectations are reviewed to ensure that safeguarding remains central to Supreme's delivery.

Confidentiality and Information Sharing

Trusted relationships are central to effective mentoring, but mentoring cannot be offered on the basis of absolute confidentiality.

Young people are supported to understand that information may need to be shared when there is concern about their safety, the safety of another person or another significant safeguarding matter.

Information is shared appropriately, proportionately and with relevant professionals in accordance with safeguarding responsibilities, organisational procedures and applicable data-protection requirements.

We will respect a young person's voice and privacy, but we will never promise to keep information secret when someone may be at risk of harm.

Raising a Safeguarding Concern

If you are concerned about the conduct of a person representing Supreme Mentoring Services, or about the safety or welfare of a young person connected with our work, please report the concern as soon as possible.

Working Alongside Schools and Partners
